Easy Breezy Linens

To say linen is one of our favorite fabrics would be an understatement. Equal parts luxurious and utilitarian, this natural fiber is soft, breezy and easy to care for. Plus, it never goes out of style. In fact, it’s always present in spring collections and was seen on the runways from the likes of Hermes and Michael Kors this season.

We especially love linen blends because they’re effortlessly luxurious. They’re tailored enough for the office but can easily be incorporated into a weekend wardrobe as well. Our linen silk blends are perfect for travel, whether it’s for business or pleasure, because they don’t wrinkle and keep you cool even as summer approaches.  A linen/silk blend blouse is the perfect accompaniment to a suit this time of year. Pair one with your favorite pair of dark denim, and you have an easy, casual evening outfit that still makes you look like a pro.

We know women want options, which is why our linen/silk blend blouses are available in custom colors. Is a linen suit on your list of summer must-haves this season? A piece can be custom designed in your favorite silhouettes like pants, blazers and dresses. And truly, these pieces aren’t just for the office. A linen dress is perfect for a garden party, and a lightweight blazer is necessary for a breezy evening on the beach. Our impeccable tailoring combined with the timeless look of linen means you’ll be wearing these pieces for years to come.

Pretty in Pastels: Spring’s Most Wearable Trend

Spring 2014 Pastels

Now that spring is in full bloom, we’re finally shedding our cold-weather layers to make way for new pieces. There were a ton of approachable trends on the Spring 2014 runways, but perhaps the most wearable of them all was pastels. Timeless and feminine, this toned-down color palette was given a fresh update by some of our favorite designers. From menswear-inspired suits at Jason Wu to a curve-enhancing dress at Prabal Gurung, this is the type of trend that travels seamlessly from work to weekend.

Here at Gurjot New York, we are head-over-heels for spring pastels and are integrating them into our working wardrobes as much as possible. And there is no better way to sport this trend at the office than with a silk blouse. An essential foundation to the suit, we love a sleeveless blouse this time of year because it keeps us cool as the temperatures rise. Our Sleeveless Silk Barrington Shirt is available in both sage and rose, two pretty pastels that pair with just about every color from navy to grey. If you want to rock the trend but are looking for different hues and silhouettes, we have a variety available to customize a shirt with both our Custom and Ready Select lines. If you’re looking for a simple way to upgrade your wardrobe for spring, a luxurious silk shirt in one of spring’s lovely, refined pastels is the absolute best way to change up your look.

Skirt it for Success

Can you think of anything more ladylike than the pencil skirt? Classic and feminine in silhouette, you can wear it with just about anything. We, of course, love it with a button down and blazer to create the classic skirt suit. But paired with a silk or lace top and a great pair of stilettos, it’s instantly the perfect outfit for special occasions. Grab your favorite old band tee and pair of shades, and you have a cool, laid-back weekend outfit that still looks polished. Because of all the different ways you can style the pencil skirt, it is a wardrobe must for every woman no matter what her profession.

Not only is the pencil skirt a classic that will never go out of style, it was huge on the Spring 2014 runways. From embellished ladylike lace to simple neutrals, designers added their own twists to this trend to make it fresh and modern. We are huge fans of this piece at Gurjot New York and our version, the Bryant Skirt, goes well with all of our jackets and shirts to complete a stylish, professional look. And because we love a custom touch, you can choose both the fabric and lining with our Ready Select program to make this ready-to-wear piece your own. No matter how you style it, the pencil skirt is a wardrobe staple you’ll have in your closet for years to come.
